Homemade Organic Blueberry Jam
Ingredients
- 1½ Cups Fresh blueberries
- 1 tbsp Honey
- 1 tbsp Chia seeds *Optional
- 1 tbsp Lemon zest
Instructions

On medium heat, cook blueberries and honey in a small saucepan, stirring occasionally about 5 minutes.

Add chia seeds (optional) and lemon zest and cook until blueberries break down and juices thicken, about 10 minutes. Mash with a fork if you want less chunky texture.

Blueberry contains anthocyanidin compounds, which gives them their deep blue color. This helps against oxidative stress in the brain and age related diseases. Blueberry also contains vitamin c, to boost immunity while vitamin E protects bodily tissues from free radicals. They also contain soluble fiber which will help absorbs toxins and tannins help promote proper bowel movements.
Honey contains riboflavin that supports the body’s antioxidant function. Raw and local are always best to use since it great in anti-fungal, antiviral, and antibacterial properties. Honey is much better to use than white process sugar.
*Chia seeds will help thicken the jam and is optional, (I personally don’t use it) but it has essential omega 3 fatty acids and fiber.
Lemon zest is packed with vitamin C and will help enhance the flavors and color of your jam.
